 For the summer of 2011 Emthunzini Hats will be making a donation from every hat sold to the formation of the XP Society in South Africa.
 , or XP, is a rare genetic disease whereby a person’s DNA lacks the ability to repair damage from ultraviolet light. The disease leads to skin cancer as early as childhood. Unless sun exposure is minimized, XP victims are likely to die of malignant melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma.
Patients with XP have to be completely protected from the sunlight, failing which their skin and eyes can be severely damaged. This rare, genetic disease has been indentified in every ethnic group throughout the world, and if left undiagnosed, can lead to death.
