Xeroderma Pigmentosa (XP) Society

Emthunzini Hats are involved in a number of corporate responsibility projects around the country. Over the years our sunhat business has contributed a percentage of profit to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) and the Xeroderma Pigmentosa (XP) Society.

Our Emthunzini Hats, that block out 98% of the suns harmful rays and are endorsed by the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), have been donated to these organisations as well to Cluny Farm in Gauteng and Northcliff House in the Eastern Cape. All donations help people with special needs.

“We are delighted to be in a position to give something back to these most worthwhile causes,” co-founder of Emthunzini Hats, Gilly Ord, said. “Naturally, we have chosen to work with organisations that are affected by the sun – either when out on a sea rescue mission or as a result of a genetic/physical disorder where skin is damaged by exposure to ultraviolet light, as is the case with the XP society.”

Emthunzini Hats are not only fashionable but sensible too; “We love that our hats look great, but more importantly they offer respite and protection from the sun’s harmful rays, very important if you’re working out in the sun all day.”
